Handout - Ridvan Message 2000 excerpt
Handout - "A world so laden with moral dangers..."
At the beginning of our Book 3 courses, we highlight the handout (download above) on the Universal House of Justice's admonition concerning the current state of children (Ridvan Message 2000) and do individual art projects referencing the current plight of children. One effective art project is to do a collage of pictures cut out from magazines relating to the situation described in this Message- some of the phrases are included in the attached document which can also be used in the collage. Then each participant picks a song from a CD to accompany their description and presentation of their collage. For example, one participant had Nine Inch Nails- Head like a Hole playing in the background while describing her collage. It heightened the urgency of the plight of children because the music was so disturbing. Also- this leads into discussions of how to introduce the concept of children's classes to others- allowing them to discuss the situation that children face today and the need for classes to help them develop the virtues needed to combat the negative forces bombarding them.
