Courtesy of Jackie Oswald, USABefore starting Book 4, Unit 2, Section 7, talk a little with the Study Circle participants about giving a short talk. Ask the group to brainstorm about things to remember when speaking to a group (for example, speaking clearly, making eye contact, etc.). The tutor will write the suggestions on a flip chart as they are given. Encourage all suggestions. You can use this same technique later with storytelling.
After the brainstorming session, break the group into pairs and have them take turns, after familiarizing themselves with the talk to be shared on pages 40 - 41 of Book 4. Have the pairs STAND UP and give the talk to one another. Encourage the participants to focus on sharing the talk in the book, and not all the other information that they may already know about the topic.
Note: Some participants may resist standing up to deliver the talk, but this is very helpful to their presentation and should be encouraged.
