Courtesy of Jackie Oswald, USAHere is an activity for Book 2 / Unit 2 to help the group prepare for their practice.
When the group is near the end of Unit 1, give each of them a sheet of paper and pencils. Each participant is asked to write all the questions they can think of that they have been asked by various people when that person first learned he/she was a Baha'i. Please allow some space between each of the questions. (The questions might be like, "Do you believe in God?", etc.) Give them about 5 minutes for this, then collect all of them and go on with the Study Circle.
At a future meeting before you get into Unit 2, the tutor should cut the questions into individual pieces of paper, fold them and place them in a container, such as a big bowl. Have on hand a timer or stop watch.
Ask for a volunteer to begin, or just pick someone to start -- have them take a piece of paper from the bowl, read it and then answer the question within one minute. (This is a realitistic situation with a new person, we never know what they will ask.) This continues around the group until all have had a chance to answer a question. They are never given the question ahead of time. You may want to give them a little longer to answer, I always start out with one minute.
After the group completes the exercise, ask them to provide positive feedback on the answers. For example, "I liked it when the Baha'i smiled and encouraged the questioner", or "It was good when someone didn't know the answer that they said they would find out and get back to them tomorrow." etc. The group might also wish to give helpful general suggestions to one another, as a group, such as "It is important that we speak clearly and loud enough so the inquirer doesn't have to strain to hear."
This activity can also be used during a community Feast, say for the social part.
