Courtesy of Bridge to Unity RTI, Nancy Sliker, USAPlace a large tarp or sheet on the floor. It represents "our world". Participants each make an observation about what they observe in the Old World Order around them every day. Each contribution is written down on masking tape with a marking pen and taped to the cloth. (These can be pre-made, if there is a time constraint.) Then ask the participants to think of an action or response which would address these issues and would allow a change or adjustment to enable building the New World Order. Again, each contribution is written on masking tape. The tape is then applied to the other side of the cloth. (You have to lift up the edges to be able to do this.)
Now, invite the participants to stand on the cloth and flip it over without stepping off the cloth onto the surrounding floor. (After all, you have to "stay in this world"). This usually causes a lot of laughter and group adjustment to accomplish, but there is always a solution with people learning to work out the problem together so that finally the New World Order is laid out.
Wrap up the activity by posing some appreciative questions: What did we learn from this? What analogy exists between the game and the administrative order? What does the story tell us about what effect we can have in our communities? How will the skills and spiritual insights gained in the study circle enable us to "flip the cloth over" in life?
