This activity is best done immediately before Section 5 of Unit 1 of Ruhi Book 3: Teaching Children's Classes, Grade 1.

Divide the study circle into two groups (or, if there are only a few participants, everyone can do both parts.) Bring out glasses and spoons for each of the participants in the first group, as well as a large bowl of water. Tell them that their task is to fill up their glasses spoon by spoon with water from the bowl. Tell the second group that you have hidden a number of small candies around the room. (You must do this beforehand, of course.) Their task is to search for them and they may eat whatever they find.

When everyone has finished their tasks, reunite the circle and reflect on the activity. Ask each group how they felt, and whether they enjoyed their tasks or not. Finally, ask one or more participants to read Section 5. At this point most will make the connection and have a deeper understanding of the spiritual principle involved in teaching children.
