Please enjoy these short activities based on the sections in the first and second unit of Ruhi Book 3: Teaching Children's Classes. We followed this timeline, with the activities, during an intensive in Seattle and it was very well received. Having a plan like this also helped make it a lot less stressful or chaotic tutoring an intensive group, and allowed me, as the tutor, to focus on really modeling the approach of a Baha'i teacher as if the group were structured as a children's class.

Some of the ideas were adapted from previous postings on Ruhi Resources, and some come from experiences with previous teachers and tutors. Some of the activities are original- created for the purpose of this intensive.

Also included is the story (download above) we wrote as a group to practice story-writing and telling, and to deepen on the themes in the first unit. The group ended up dramatizing this story, even making a backdrop and costumes! They performed it for the participants of other books during the Saturday evening portion of the intensive. I must emphasize that this is an original story, written by the participants together in about an hour. We went through a couple phases to prepare... Brainstorming, and figuring out the basic CROW (Characters, Relationships, Objectives and Where). Then we drew a story arc and fit in the setting, the events in the rising action, the climax and the resolution. The story then went through a few drafts and renditions (one person was put in charge of writing it out and narrating, but making sure to listen to all the input). Finally we had a story we all felt was consistent, enjoyable, and illustrated the theme we chose.
