Scene One

Setting: The village of Swineville

Narrator: Once upon a time there was a Mother Pig who had three sons: Pig One, Pig Two, and Pig Three. She was a warm, loving (although not very good at thinking up names) kind of mother who trained her sons in the service to the Institute Process. The young porcine tutors set out to make their way in the world and to tutor the courses of the Ruhi Institute.

Mother Pig: OK boys, here’s your Ruhi Books, now go out and start your Study Circles.

Pig One: Suiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

Pig Two: Thanks, Mom, we’ll make you proud.

Pig Three: I feel so EMPOWERED!

Narrator: So, the Three Little Pigs set out. The first Little Pig built his house out of straw. It wasn’t very strong, at times he had trouble holding it up. But, he was able to finish it before April 21st. He started his study circle and invited all the other piggies that lived in his town.

Pig A: Wow, this study circle is fun. I’ve never felt so happy or so close to my piggie friends. But, what’s this say here? Practice? What’s the practice? What does that mean that we need to share a prayer?

Pig One: Oh, don’t worry about that. NOBODY does the practice! Just ask around. Besides, if we go around sharing prayers we’ll never finish the full sequence in time!

Narrator: Then, there was a knock at the door.

(Knock, knock, knock!)

Wolf: Little Pig, Little Pig, please, let me come in. I want to see what a study circle is

Pig One: Not by the hair of my chinny, chin chin! Sorry, Wolf, you’re a non-pig and we’re really not ready to deal with the public. These study circles are for us piggies to understand our identities as domestic swine and to bond. Besides, if you come in, you might ask QUESTIONS. And we really don’t know what we’d do with a non-pig here. I mean, like, what would we serve for refreshments.

Narrator: The wolf was so sad, that he had an allergic reaction to the rejection and felt a tremendous sneeze coming on!

Wolf: AAHHHHHHHHCCHHOOOOOOOOOO!!

Narrator: The tremendous sneeze knocked down the straw house. All the piggy participants ran to Pig Two’s house. Pig Two had built his house out of sticks. It took a little longer, but the results were stronger and more firmly established. And he finished before April 21st, too. But, just barely. When the pigs from the straw house walked in they heard that this study circle did the practices, so they were very excited to be there.

Pig Two: Welcome to our Study Circle. We do the practices here!

Pig A: Wow, this study circle is fun. I’ve never felt so happy or so close to my piggie friends. But, what’s this say here? Practice? What’s the practice? What does that mean that we need to share a prayer?

Pig Two: Yes, everyone needs to find someone to share a prayer with. I mailed a prayer book to a non-pig friend of mine. I never heard back, but I’m sure he loved it. I also shared a prayer with some animals at a meeting we had at the school the other night. I passed it out and after everyone looked at the paper, we all went home. I was very excited. I’m waiting for someone to call me let me know what they thought. I also sent a prayer to my mother. She said something about getting out more, but, I know she enjoyed it all the same. It was the first prayer she ever taught me.

Pig A: At this rate this engine of growth isn’t going to leave the station.

Narrator: Well, word got out to the wolf that there was another study circle in the area so he went by to see if they would let him join.

Wolf: Little Pig, Little Pig, let me come in!

Pig Two: Not by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin. Slip your address under the door and we’ll mail you a prayer you can read all by yourself. Then, call us on the first Thursday of the month and we will let you know if we’re going to have a meeting or not.

Narrator: As luck would have it, the wolf sniffed some dust as he was trying to slip his address under the door and he had to sneeze!

Wolf: AAHHHHHHHHCCHHOOOOOOOOOO!!

Narrrator: Well, as you can imagine, the stick house fell down almost as easily as the straw one had. All the little piggies ran to the house of Pig Three.

Pig 3: Welcome, welcome everyone. Please come in to our study circle.

Narrator: Pig 3 encourages all the participants to welcome the newcomers and make them comfortable. After everyone is settled Pig B speaks.

Pig B: We’re so happy you’ve come to join us. We are having so much fun together and are sure you will, too. We have some other friends who are here for the first time, as well. Let me introduce you to everyone:

This is Bernie the Bat

Frosty the Snow Owl

And Missy Mouse.

Pig 3, here has been encouraging us to invite some of our friends to the study circle. Can you imagine? At first we felt shy. But, we did some role playing and now we feel very comfortable inviting friends here. Hey, have you guys done the practice for the Unit on Prayer?

Pigs 1 and 2: You know that NOBODY does the practice!

Pig C: Well, to tell you the truth, when we read that we felt like quitting right then and there. But, Pig 3 helped us practice doing it here in the study circle. Then he invited us to come along with him to visit his neighbor. Did you know they have a time they get together every week just to learn parts of prayers and talk about them? The neighbor has even invited some friends over, and it turned into a Devotional Gathering. When we SAW what it looked like, we felt like maybe we might be able to do it.

Pig B: Yeah, but we were still nervous. So, the first time we invited a friend over, Pig 3 did most of the talking. He asked US to explain parts of the prayer and we felt so happy to be able to share what we knew. The second time, he went with us, but WE did most of the talking. We were so surprised how easy it was to talk about the prayers and quotes we’d been studying.

Pig C: Bernie Bat here is my neighbor who we went to visit for the first time a few weeks ago, and now he’s decided to come here so he can study more of these beautiful Words.

Pigs 1 & 2: But, you’re never going to finish the sequence in time!

Pig 3: Dear Brothers, don’t you understand that it’s not a MAGIC formula to finish by a certain date? It’s how much we learn, how quickly we put what we learn into practice, and how we look out beyond ourselves and our own lives to all of the creatures of the Earth.

Pig C: Yeah, it’s like breathing. When we study we inhale. When we do the practice, we exhale. If we only study we suck all the air up and explode like a balloon. When we exhale without studying, it’s only hot air. But, when we do both, we’re breathing! And breathing is very healthy!

Narrator: Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

(Knock, Knock, Knock)

Pigs 1 & 2: Oh no, it’s that pesky wolf. He won’t leave us alone. He keeps wanting to crash our study circles.

Wolf: Little Pigs, Little Pigs, let me come in! Plleeeaseeeee!

Pigs 1 & 2: Not by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin.

Pig 3: Oh, no you don’t. We’re not going to keep making the same mistakes from the past. We’re going to try something new!

Come on in Brother Wolf.

Pig 1: ixNah on the otherBrah! We’re still on his list of appetizers.

Pig 2: Even if he doesn’t eat us he might ask QUESTIONS and we might not know the answers. He might become a pest, wanting to meet all the time! He might want to talk on the phone during Monday Night Football…

Pig 3: Brother Wolf, I want you to meet everybody. Come on in. If they seem a little shy, it’s because you are above all of us on the food chain.

Wolf: Don’t worry about that, I’m a vegan—no meat nor dairy. I don’t care about food, anyway. I just want to read and study the Ruhi Courses. Is it all right that I stay?

Everybody: (with a sigh of relief) Of course you can.

Narrator: And so, we see that, once again the Third Little Pig demonstrates his patience, hardwork, and above all, courage, thus showing his brothers how to build a strong house on a solid foundation. And, Coloreen so red, my tale is said!

The End
